About
What Makes Us Unique
We saw a great opportunity to serve the Mid-Atlantic area with complete metal finishing - from media blasting and pretreatment, to welding, repair and fabrication, to advanced powder coating - all provided in-house, under quality control. This differentiates us as a provider and gives you one-stop sourcing for your metal finishing needs.
Centrally located on Kent Island - we can service the entire Baltimore, Washington metro area while also providing easy access to the Chesapeake Bay, the eastern shore and the coastal areas of MD/Del/Va.
Our building and equipment are new, and we use the latest technology in the fast growing area of Powder Coating.
Founder
Our founder Chuck Bell brings with him deep experience from the Marine, Welding and Building trades, and leverage an extensive partner network to tackle projects of all sizes and complexity.
Our Facility
We operate in two 4,000 sq ft buildings - one dedicated to an extensive pre-treatment operation, and one dedicated to powder application and curing. This allows us to control and maintain Qualtiy and cleanliness in our process and in your finished product.
Surface Preparation
Because a clean surface area is of such importance we have invested in an array of pre-treatment and surface preparation technologies. These include:
- An on-site enclosed Media Blast Room large enough to accommodate an automobile!
- Several media blast machines (from soft to aggressive) We can blast with anything from Baking Soda to Plastic Media to Aluminum Oxide. We do not use typical Sand - and wont warp your part or leave you with a mess to clean up!
- A 5 stage hot pressure wash area. This is typically the final step prior to powder coating. Depending on your part - we use a variety of primers, and sealers as necessary to prepare the metal.
Welding and Repair
Many times, media blasting will reveal an area that needs repair or touch up. We can handle this on-site and keep your part moving to the Powder Coat area.
Fabrication
While Powder Coating is our main business - if you need something fabricated or added to your part - we can do it on-site.
Powder Coating
Once prepped - your part is "racked" and moved our large powder coating booth. The powder you specified is applied in a controlled environment, and measured to ensure uniform coverage.
Curing
Once Coated we move your part into our Rapid Engineering T Convection Oven where a uniform temperature up to 450' is maintained until your part has "cured". Our Thermoset and Fusion Bonded Powders we use do not simply "melt" to your part but actually bond via a process called cross-linking. Once cross linked - the powder is changed in terms of physical properties. The process cannot be reversed and thus why Powder Coating is superior to any other coating process.
Contrary to what you might have heard - Powder Coating can only be removed in two ways: "Burning off" via a higher heat oven, or mechanically removing the coating via aggressive media blasting. Please remember this when choosing your color, texture or finish.
